Recently some friends and I met up at The Hot House Tavern for a long-overdue get together. They had delicious gluten free tempura battered veggies and a dedicated fryer - it's an appetizer but could easily be a meal by itself!

The next visit, we asked if there was any way to do their cheese curds in the tempura batter and dedicated fryer... and they tried it out, just for us! It is AMAZING - you just have to ask for it (not currently on the menu but maybe if enough of us ask...?)

If you don't see a category you'd like to look up, or have somewhere you'd like added to the lists above, please contact me here!

Now, as with everything, here's my disclaimer... no matter where you go and what you eat, SPEAK UP! Don't be afraid to ask questions! If you aren't sure your server knows what they are talking about, ask to speak to the chef. If something comes out that you're not sure about, ask about it! If they make a mistake, don't be afraid to send it back. But another part of my rule: Be NICE about it. This offers an opportunity to educate them, not assault them, but they need to know that it is VERY serious - that they can't mess up on something like a bunch of gluten-filled croutons all over your salad or a fried onion on top of your burger. I have gone back to places where I've been "glutened" to give them a second chance - maybe it was a new server or a really busy night... If a restaurant is trying to support our community, I am willing to help, encourage, and support them.
