Travel Notes & Reviews
I love to roam around the world... join me! I haven't been everywhere, but I have noted those places recommended by fans and followers, plus links to some gluten-free/allergy-free groups that can recommend "local" great eats for a certain city or state!
As with all restaurants, be sure to ask questions of your server and/or chef about the preparation of certain items. Be sure to research the location before you go, in case something has changed since the last time I visited or heard about certain places! Unfortunately, the pandemic caused the closure, limited hours and staffing, and other struggles for many businesses and restaurants. Please confirm the operating hours for each by visiting their websites and/or calling the establishment prior to arriving.
As with everything, here's my disclaimer... no matter where you go and what you eat, SPEAK UP! Don't be afraid to ask questions! If you aren't sure your server knows what they are talking about, ask to speak to the chef. If something comes out that you're not sure about, ask about it! If they make a mistake, don't be afraid to send it back. But another part of my rule: Be NICE about it. This offers an opportunity to educate them, not assault them, but they need to know that it is VERY serious - that they can't mess up on something like a bunch of gluten-filled croutons all over your salad or a fried onion on top of your burger. I have gone back to places where I've been "glutened" to give them a second chance - maybe it was a new server or a really busy night... If a restaurant is trying to support our community, I am willing to help, encourage, and support them.

- Walt Disney World - gluten free options are available at almost every one of their 300+ restaurants throughout the theme parks & Disney Springs - very friendly for everyone with food allergies! See my favorite options - click here
- Hyatt Regency Orlando - Orlando FL - the staff here was AMAZING about checking all the gluten-free options served at both buffet and sit-down meals while I attended a conference here and just about everything (with very few exceptions) was safe to eat - many vegetarian options too! One manager even sought me out personally at a reception one evening to let me know that a gluten-free dessert could easily be whipped up in back, just for me!

- HaleLife Bakery & Bistro - Tampa & St Petersburg FL - 100% gluten free, vegan, top-8-allergen-free bakery and cafe!
- Mami Mia Coffee, Bakery & Restaurant - Dunedin FL - 100% gluten free bakery and restaurant!
- Taco Bar - Clearwater FL - handmade corn tortillas made fresh daily, melt-in-your-mouth slow-cooked meat, almost everything on the menu is gluten-free!
- Taco Bus - various locations - lots of gluten free Mexican options... check out the authentic actual BUS location at 913 E Hillsborough Ave, Tampa FL
- Taco Dirty - Tampa & St Petersburg FL - extremely gluten free friendly tacos and even gluten free chicken nuggets!

- The Conch House - St Augustine FL - seaside seafood restaurant, watch dolphins in the marina while you eat... the best spot in the house is a "treetop" (lookout stand) table!
